MPZ Tee's
Muggle Pride Zone is always trying to think of brand new features to introduce to the users, and the faithful fans of the Boy Wizard. So, MPZ has been thinking of getting a whole bunch of great tee's printed off. But first, we want to see the popularity of this idea, if you would actually buy a tee, or would receive one from a relative, go to the comments, and tell us that! The Tee's would be around 10-15$, and we would start selling at the beggining of December! Thanks!

Emma Watson to switch-on Christmas lights!
Emma Watson, Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter movies, appeared at the annual Oxford Street Christmas Lights today to kick off the holiday season and Film Magic has just posted some pictures of the event.

Remember there will also be a Harry Potter themed light show each night through Jan. 5.

Emma also commented on being there to turn on the lights:

I have wanted to do it ever since I was very young and I saw the Spice Girls do it. I love Oxford Street. I have come here most Christmases because I love the lights and all the beautiful displays in all the shops.

Goblet of Fire moves to Leavesden!
It may look more like Glastonbury or an annual convention of Native Americans, but a field near Watford is home to the latest Harry Potter film. The tents are believed to feature as a village in the fourth film in the series about JK Rowling's boy wizard, who will again be played by Daniel Radcliffe.

With the production shrouded in secrecy, the cast and crew are currently working at Leavesden Studios, near Watford, on the adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Leavesden has been the main studio site for the three previous Harry Potter films as well as other blockbusters such as the James Bond film Goldeneye.

PoA #9 on list of year's best DVDs
Rolling Stone created a list of the year's best DVDs, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban came in ninth place.

The best of the three Potter films to date -- thanks to the dark magic of director Alfonso Cuaron -- is also the best DVD. The first two films were slogs due to the candy-bright view of director Chris Columbus. Cuaron works in the shadows, where mystery, sex and trauma do their mischief. The crisp transfer catches what goes bump in the night.

Knight Bus spotted on GOF set!
HP4U.co.uk took 9 pictures at the Quidditch World Cup set, which can be seen here. You may notice that in this picture, the Knight Bus can be seen in the distance. The Knight Bus isn't in the fourth book, but Stan Shunpike, the driver, has one line ("I'm about to become the youngest ever Minister of Magic, I am") at the Quidditch World Cup, so it's possible that they've briefly included the Knight Bus in the film.

Margolyes says Sprout pruned from Phoenix, Warners says no comment!
Harry Potter fans are in for a shock - Professor Sprout has been given the chop from the fifth film. Miriam Margoyles, who plays the cheery gardener, revealed she will NOT appear in the Order of the Phoenix - even though she is in the book.

The award-winning actress said: "I am not making the fifth Harry Potter. They made a great mistake and cut my character."

The news will stun die-hard Potter devotees who have grown used to the movies staying loyal to J.K. Rowling's books.

Warner Bros said: "The final screen play for the fifth film has not been finished so we can't comment." [Thanks Wizard News

Kids want flying cars like in Harry Potter!
Boring old adults may half heartedly discuss flight as a possible next step in personal transportation, but to children, many of whom have grown up with the Harry Potter phenomenon, it’s never in any doubt: when asked:

"If your car could do anything, what would it do?" an overriding number (43%) wanted it to be able to fly, like Mr. Weasley's powder blue Ford Anglia in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

We remember...
Today in Canada and America, is a day that we remember. Many years ago, our fathers, grandfathers and ancestors fought in WWI, WWII and the Korean Wars. They sacraficed schooling, family, getting married, and having a family.

In the World Wars, Canada was known for their superior bravery, and the troops who supported the bravery, and the flag. We took many crucial positions to help our allys to win the the war, and today we remember.

The United States was also a very crucial part of the wars, fighting alongside Canada, and many other countries in many of the battles fought. In WWII they succesfully took down a Concentration Camp by themselves, freeing many innocent Jewish people. So today, we celebrate Veterans Day in the United States, and Remembrance Day in Canada.

So please, in respect for the Canadian soldiers, and our American brethren, please take a moment of silence in respect for these soldiers, medical workers, and the family of those lost.

We Remember.

'Goblet' funnier, darker than prior 'Potter' films!
Soruce :: HPANA

Along with news that longtime Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves would not be adapting the fifth JK Rowling novel, Emerson Spartz from MuggleNet and Melissa Anelli from The Leaky Cauldron recently returned from a visit to Leavesden Studios, and today revealed a few more tidbits about Goblet of Fire, currently in production there.

WB has asked us to not post our reports until a later date - probably January - but I will give you a few teasers here.

Take it for what you will, the Prefects' Bathroom scene with Harry and Myrtle HAS been shot.

GOF is, according to several of the people we spoke to, shaping up to be both funnier and darker than the previous three films.

A full report is promised early next year.

Steve Kloves steps aside
Coming Soon! reports:
Steve Kloves, who wrote the first four Harry Potter screenplays, has decided to step aside in writing the OotP screenplay to return to directing. Replacing him will be Michael Goldberg who wrote the 2003 adaptation of Peter Pan.

Note that just because they have a screenplay writer it does not mean that the actors are all signed up for the fifth film.

Find out more about Goldberg here.

Dark Mark rising on 'Goblet of Fire' set?

Click to see a larger picture!

Keith Broad, a reader of TheSnitch.co.uk, visited the Goblet of Fire Quidditch World Cup set at Leavesden Studios today and snapped a great photo (if you've read the book, you'll definitely know what's going on). He said the following:

"Generators, smoke machines, flame generators and mdonkeyive sodium lamps have been burning long into the night this week on the Leavesden back lot Quidditch World Cup camp site set. Filming was taking place on the very edge of the set tonight (Weds. 11/10/04) and it was a generally held opinion amongst those watching that Harry, Ron & Hermione could all be seen in action running through smoking and flaming tents!" Improv artists put clever twist on Harry Potter

Soruce :: Wizard News

Hairy's magical improv
Quick-witted parody of J.K. Rowling's young wizard works wonders
By Glenn Sumi, Toronto Star

Bad dog theatre, the home of Theatresports and the hub of the city's improv comedy scene, is trying to shake up traditional notions of theatre with Hairy Patter and the Improviser's Stone.

Running every Friday, it's a weekly improvised take on that literary and cinematic franchise about a certain bespectacled wizard and his annoying friends. Aimed at an all-ages crowd, the show follows the same outline as the first book/movie, but throughout the telling the audience is asked for input. Who kills Hairy's parents? What are Hairy's secret powers? What houses do the four students - Hairy (Barry Wilson), Herheiny (Jan Caruana), Juan (Dave Pearce) and Milles Feuilles (Craig Monk) - live in? And so on.

Conceived by Wilson and with a cast that changes from week to week, it's a terrific showcase for some of the city's best improvisers to strut their stuff in various improv games and segments. The show moves quickly from scene to scene, with Ralph Macleod's Bumbledorf and Rica Eckersley's Professor MacMonocle often acting as narrators. [read on...]

Filming was taking place on the very edge of the set tonight (Weds 10/11/04) and it was a generally held opinion amongst those watching that Harry, Ron & Hermione could all be seen in action running through smoking and flaming tents!

Exciting news from the set
Two weeks ago, myself and four other journalists including Melissa from TLC received an invitation from Warner Bros. to visit the Goblet of Fire set. They flew us out, put us in a very posh hotel and we spent the most amazing day at Leavesden Studios. (I know, what a rough life I lead.) WB has asked us to not post our reports until a later date - probably January - but I will give you a few teasers here.

First, take it for what you will, the Prefects' Bathroom scene with Harry and Myrtle HAS been shot.

And second, GOF is, according to several of the people we spoke to, shaping up to be both funnier and darker (because of Cedric's death) than the previous three films.

Stay tuned for more. I can't wait to post my report for you guys to read - you're gonna love it. GOF is looking great.

Great Hall scene filmed
Actor Jamie Waylett (Vincent Crabbe) has updated his online
diary with information regarding one of the scenes in the Great Hall. He had this to say:

"This week we have been filming one of the "Great Hall" scenes, with Nearly all the main cast and about 250 - 300 "extras". For those of you who know the books inside out you might be able to guess what scene this is !

In the scene, we had to sing a song, over and over again all week, now hours after we have finished filming, I cant get that song out of my head ! I don't think it will ever get in the top 100 of the record charts, but I bet you all end up singing it when the film comes out (if you want to or not)."

EDINBURGH was last night named as the world's first City of Literature in a decision which could have a multi-million-pound spin-off for Scotland.
Edinburgh has long since played an important role in leading Scotland's literary community, including the highly-successful book festival run each year in conjuction with the Edinburgh International Fetival. Best-selling modern writers such as Joanne Rowling, Ian Rankin, Alexander McCall Smith, Irvine Welsh, and Candia McWilliam are all linked to the city. Also found in Edinburgh are a series of places linked to writers: the Scott Monument to Sir Walter Scott; Milne's Bar in Rose Street, where poets Hugh MacDiarmid and Norman MacCaig drank; the Oxford Bar made famous by Rankin's Inspector Rebus; and Nicolsons cafe, where J K Rowling wrote her first Harry Potter books.

Author JK Rowling will kill off a "big character" in her next Harry Potter book - and she's hinted it might be the boy wizard himself.
The 39-year-old was giving an online interview on her official website JKRowling.com when a fan asked if any more characters die in the next installment, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. Rowling replied, "Yes, sorry. A big character," but insists fans will have to wait until the sequel's release next year to find out who. Book-makers William Hill will be taking bets on who Rowling might kill - the favorites include Harry Potter, his friends Ron and Hermione, headmaster Dumbledore and Dobbie the elf.
(Okay at the moment I have to say a big DUH to all those people out there why would there be seven books if JK was going to kill of Harry in the sixth. The main character is gone how would you contuine onto the next year? Logically what's the point! How would that year go on? That is all I have to say)

More info updated
Our beloved Jo, God bless her, has corrected her own answer to one of the FAQ Questions she answered yesterday at JKRowling.com. She also let slip (and probably not by accident) that she read 20 chapters before answering the questions. We can all hope and pray she is referring to twenty completed chapters of book six, and considering her own statement that Half Blood Prince would not be as long as The Order of the Phoenix, this is very good news as she would be well over halfway through! There was also an added comment to the FAQ Poll Answer as well: Jo: "P.S. It has been suggested that I am wrong in saying that Dumbledore's last letter was the one he left on the doorstep with baby Harry, and that he has sent a letter since then concerning Harry's illegal flight to school. However, both Dumbledore and I differentiate between letters sent to the Dursleys as a couple, and messages directed to Petunia ALONE. And that's my final word on the subject - though I doubt it will be yours :)"

There is info about the books, what to do when you are getting bullied. And heaps of other wonderful new facts from JK herself. Like Weasley brothers ages, Fred & George’s name inspiration, more about Peeves, believing in fate and are more people going to die in the future books, have been answered.

J.K.'s cousin insists he's the real Harry Potter
J.K. Rowling's cousin Ben is furious the Harry Potter author refuses to admit he was the inspiration for the schoolboy wizard or give him any of the $774 million she made from the books and films.

Ben, 37, was "inseparable" from the multi-millionaires writer while he was growing up, and insists he's the basis for her infamous character, debunking Rowling's claim she came up with the idea while stuck on a delayed train from Manchester to London.

He says, "When I read the first Harry Potter book, my jaw dropped. It was uncanny, far more than a coincidence. I know Jo based Harry on me. I can see so much of the young me in his character.

"We used to spend the weekends swapping stories of boarding school life. She was always fascinated about what I had been up to at school and used to love me telling her about the scrapes and escapades I had been involved in.

"Jo and I were inseparable and even today people stop me and tell me I look just like Harry Potter."

Teenage pictures of Ben reveal an uncanny resemblance to the actor Daniel Radcliffe who plays Potter on the big screen.

petuniafairy writes "According to my Scholastic source (whom I've been warned not to release his name or I will never receive little tidbits again), Scholastic/Bloomsbury/WB have finally gotten a release date agreement out of J.K. Rowling for Book Six. Due to contractual reasons, there will unfortunately be no formal announcement regarding this fact until they are ready to release the date. However, I have been promised that there has already been printing of what material has gone through the editorial stage. Also, since they have reached an agreement, an announcement is not too far off. Thank you JK! Big applause!"

Gof Filming closes to accomodate GoF filming
The
Sunday Mail reports that a train line in Fort William, Scotland was closed to allow filming of a scene involving the Hogwarts Express. A ScotRail spokesman said: 'We managed to keep disruption to a minimum. Passengers got compensation in the form of rail vouchers and Harry Potter memorabilia. It's good for Scottish tourism.' At the same time, around one hundred youngesters from the local area were drafted in as extras. (What lucky buggers!)

Percy Gone?
On his personal site, actor Chris Rankin revealed today that he doesn't think his character Percy Weasley will be appearing in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." His latest contract included "Prisoner of Azkaban + 1," meaning one more film, but not necessarily the next one. Percy plays a much bigger role in "Order of the Phoenix," the fifth in JK Rowling's book series. - thanks to HPANA

Too early for the movies
According to CBBC it is too early to think about casting for the Order of Phoneix A spokeman added: "As for the next movie, it's far too early to think about casting. "We don't have a script, director, start date or casting director and no one will be considered for any role until all these are in place. "We don't want children to be disappointed, so we're asking them not to write into the studios. It would be a waste of their time."  Warner Bros. also told us that there's no point in trying to write in to be an extra in Goblet of Fire, as they're usually found through local schools or special agencies. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is due in cinemas in November 2005.
